How We Follow Privacy Best Practices

California Online Privacy Protection Act of 2003 (CalOPPA)
CalOPPA is the first state law in the United States to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require any person or company in the country (and conceivably the world) that operates a website collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy. See more at http://bit.ly/1m5CH2p.

According to CalOPPA we agree to the following:

  • We provide a link to this Privacy Policy when you register on or use the Kegg app. Our Privacy Policy link includes the word ‘Privacy’, and can be easily be found the Kegg app’s homepage.
  • You will be notified of any privacy policy changes on our Privacy Policy page, and we may email you with periodic changes to this Privacy Policy, but you should check our Privacy Policy page frequently to see recent changes. We revise the updated date at the top of this Privacy Policy so you know exactly when any changes to our Privacy Policy have gone into effect. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account. However, material changes to this Privacy Policy are not retroactive without your affirmative consent. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of any modifications.
  • We do not use tracking cookies, web logs, or otherwise track users on our app, either internally or across the web, and therefore we do not respond to “do not track” signals. However, our third-party providers may track users. You can learn how to opt out of tracking by Google Analytics here. You can learn how to opt out of Flurry’s tracking at http://www.flurry.com/legal-privacy/end-user-opt-out.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
We limit access to our website and mobile application to college students who have a university-affiliated .edu email address. For that reason, we never knowingly collect or maintain information at our website or mobile application from those who are under 13.

Transparency and Choice
Users may have different privacy concerns. Our goal is to let you know what information we collect so that you can make meaningful choices about how it is used. You may change or delete the name, email address, gender, or date of birth you used to register on the Kegg app by emailing us at support@kegg.co. You may also set your mobile device to block cookies or tracking that may be used by our third-party providers or to indicate when a cookie or tracking device is being set by them.

How We Notify You

Notifications and Other Messages
We may send you notifications and other messages using the contact information we have for you, such as your email address. You can control most of the notifications you receive, and if at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future marketing emails, you can follow the instructions at the bottom of each email or email us at support@kegg.co. Notifications and other messages sent to our employees, contractors, vendors, and suppliers are not covered under this Privacy Policy.
